The UAE Fuel Price Committee has released the retail fuel prices for May 2025, reflecting a slight upward adjustment in petrol prices and a notable drop in diesel rates. The new prices, which take effect on May 1, continue the trend of monthly price revisions aligned with global oil market fluctuations.
According to the latest announcement on Wednesday, Super 98 petrol will now be sold at Dh2.58 per liter, up from Dh2.57 in April. Similarly, Special 95 petrol has increased marginally to Dh2.47 per liter, compared to Dh2.46 the previous month. E-Plus 91, a lower-octane option often used by budget-conscious drivers and in older vehicles, will cost Dh2.39 per liter, slightly up from Dh2.38.
In contrast, diesel prices have seen a noticeable reduction. Starting in May, diesel will be priced at Dh2.52 per liter, down significantly from Dh2.63 in April. This decline may provide some relief to businesses reliant on transport and logistics, where diesel is a key operational cost.
The May price list follows a period of fuel price volatility earlier this year. Rates were increased in February but have generally eased since March. The UAE follows a policy of adjusting domestic fuel prices in line with global crude oil movements to ensure transparency and sustainability in the energy sector.
These monthly updates are overseen by the UAE Fuel Price Committee and reflect not only global market dynamics but also efforts to balance consumer affordability with economic realities. As summer approaches, both residents and businesses across the Emirates will be monitoring how future global supply and demand trends may further impact pump prices.
For now, motorists are encouraged to take note of the updated rates and plan accordingly, especially those who frequently travel long distances or manage fleets.
