An Air India Express flight en route from Delhi to Srinagar via Jammu had to turn back to the national capital on Monday due to a technical issue. The flight, IX-2564, was scheduled to land in Jammu around noon but instead circled above the airport before the pilot decided to return to Delhi. The aircraft reportedly made several loops in Jammu’s airspace before heading back.
In a statement to IANS, an Air India Express spokesperson said: “An alternative aircraft was arranged to operate our Delhi–Jammu flight after the original aircraft returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We regret the inconvenience caused.”
The incident follows another disruption involving the airline at Patna Airport a day earlier. Passengers on flight IX-2936 from Bengaluru to Patna were left frustrated after learning that their checked-in baggage had not been loaded on board.
Upon landing around 8:30 a.m., announcements directed them to collect their luggage at Belt No. 4. However, no baggage arrived. When approached, airline staff informed them that the luggage had been left behind due to weight limitations on the flight.
The explanation triggered protests from passengers, some of whom had urgent connecting flights. CISF officials and airline ground staff stepped in to calm the situation. According to reports, contact details of the affected passengers were collected, and the airline assured them that their luggage would be delivered to their homes.
