UAE President Extends Hijri New Year Greetings, ‘Year Filled With Peace, Stability’

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi,   extended warm greetings on X to UAE residents and Muslims worldwide for the start of the Hijri New Year, praying for peace, stability, progress, and prosperity in the coming year.

He wrote, “Congratulations to the people of the UAE and Muslims everywhere on the occasion of Hijri New Year. I pray that the year ahead brings lasting peace and stability to the region and the world, and advances progress and prosperity for all.”

Friday, June 27, 2025, will be a public and private sector holiday in the UAE to mark the occasion.

The Islamic New Year commemorates Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijrah) from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. Looking ahead, the UAE can expect Ramadan to begin around February 18, 2026, followed by Eid Al Fitr on March 20 and Eid Al Adha around May 26, according to the anticipated lunar calendar.
