A minor earthquake measuring 2.0 on the Richter scale was recorded in Khor Fakkan at 8:35 PM UAE time on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, according to the National Seismic Network of the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The seismic event, classified as a low-intensity tremor, occurred at a depth of five kilometers beneath the surface. While the quake was lightly felt by some residents in the vicinity, the NCM confirmed that it caused no damage or disruptions within the UAE.

Khor Fakkan, located on the UAE’s eastern coastline along the Gulf of Oman, lies near geological fault lines where occasional minor seismic events are recorded.
In a statement, the NCM assured the public that there is no cause for concern, adding that such minor seismic activity is not uncommon and is continuously monitored by its specialized network of seismic stations across the country.
