In a heartfelt tribute to Emirati women, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marked 50 years of progress and empowerment with a special video message on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, August 28, 2025. Celebrating the vital role women have played in the nation’s growth, the Dubai Ruler also announced the launch of the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision. Overseen by the General Women’s Union, this visionary initiative will span the next five decades, continuing through to 2075.

“The UAE and the people of the UAE celebrate on this day the Emirati Women’s Day . . We also celebrate the passage of fifty years of empowering women in the UAE . . We celebrate a new vision launched by the Mother of the Emirates, may God preserve her, for the journey of women in the coming fifty years . . We celebrate the woman as a mother, sister, daughter, and wife . . We celebrate her as a nurturer of generations, a planter of values, and a partner in the journey of development . . We celebrate her as the soul of the homeland . . and a homeland for the soul .. and a companion on the path .. and a maker of change,” Sheikh Mohammed expressed in his post on X.

Accompanying his message was a powerful video showcasing the accomplishments of women across various fields in the UAE.

Joining in the celebration, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, also shared a tribute acknowledging the outstanding role women have played in shaping the nation.

Sharjah’s Ruler, Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, also praised the enduring strength and impact of Emirati women. “On Emirati Women’s Day, we celebrate her pioneering role as a fundamental partner in the journey of development, and a supporter of the path to excellence in all fields,” he said.

This year’s Emirati Women’s Day carries special significance as it is celebrated under the theme “Hand in Hand, Celebrating the 50th”, marking the 50-year milestone since the establishment of the General Women’s Union in 1975—a cornerstone institution in advancing women’s rights and opportunities in the UAE.
