Careem has brought back its popular Dirhams for Delays campaign in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, offering customers compensation when food deliveries exceed the promised arrival time. The initiative automatically credits users via their Careem Pay wallet if their order is delayed, aiming to reinforce reliability and customer trust.
The delivery captains are not shown the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and are not penalized for delays. Instead, Careem emphasizes safety by rewarding drivers with weekly bonuses for safe driving. The campaign highlights the company’s ongoing focus on punctuality and customer satisfaction.
David Chamas, General Manager of Careem Food in Abu Dhabi, said: “Customers want to know they can count on their meals always arriving on time. We’re excited to bring Dirhams for Delays to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain so more people can see just how punctual Careem Food deliveries are – and benefit from a little extra credit on the off chance that we’re ever late.”
In 2024, 9 out of 10 Careem Food orders were delivered on time, even during high-traffic seasons like the back-to-school period and post-summer returns. The company uses advanced dispatching technology to allocate orders based on restaurant and customer proximity and works closely with restaurant partners to ensure timely food preparation.
Careem Food continues to expand its presence in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, offering a wide variety of local and international food options, including favorites like Just Burger, Rain Cafe, Pizza Di Rocco, Yalanji, KFC, and Baskin Robbins.
Careem Plus members in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain enjoy a range of benefits including unlimited free delivery, up to 50% off dining bills, credits on rides, and discounts on services like home cleaning and Careem Bike. On average, members save AED 300 monthly for a subscription fee of AED 19.
