The sixth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 has earned the Bronze Award in the “Fan Solution Category” at the prestigious global sports leadership conference, Leaders, held in London.

This recognition celebrates the event’s remarkable achievement in elevating the spectator experience and promoting community engagement, reaffirming its position as one of the leading running races both regionally and globally.

Organised annually by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with ADNOC since its inception, the marathon has evolved into one of the capital’s most significant sporting events, attracting participants from across the UAE and around the world.

The 2024 edition welcomed over 33,000 runners—men and women alike—from various countries, including elite athletes, amateurs, and families, competing across multiple race categories ranging from the full marathon to recreational and family runs.

This year’s event was guided by the values of inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability. It featured dedicated initiatives aimed at reducing plastic use, promoting environmental stewardship, and monitoring the carbon footprint, alongside community engagement programmes in schools and interactive campaigns across social media platforms.

Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, stated that receiving this global award marks a new milestone for Abu Dhabi’s sporting landscape.

He added, “We are proud that the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon has been recognised at the sports leadership conference, as a result of the combined efforts of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, our partner ADNOC and all supporting entities. This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering a leading-edge sporting experience that places everyone at the heart of the event, and brings together outstanding athletic performance, community participation and sustainability.”
