Weather Forecast Dubai: Rain, Cooler Temperatures Expected

Dubai’s weather has been getting cooler, following last weekend’s unexpected rainfall. Multiple weather sources are now forecasting more rain, along with a noticeable drop in temperatures across the city. On Saturday, December 13, residents received a public safety alert from Dubai Police warning of unstable weather conditions. Just hours later, Dubai woke up to rainfall on Sunday morning, an unusual sight in a city known for year-round sunshine.

While rain is not a regular feature of the UAE’s natural climate, it is often enhanced through cloud seeding. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) runs one of the world’s most advanced cloud seeding programs, introducing tiny particles like salt crystals or nanomaterials into clouds to help water droplets grow heavy enough to fall as rain. A cold front is also expected, with highs dropping to just 21°C and lows around 14°C—chilly by Dubai standards.

The WeatherRadar app shows rainfall starting from around 10 PM on Thursday, December 18, continuing into Friday morning with brief breaks, and picking up again on Saturday, December 20. The cooler temperatures combined with intermittent rain could impact outdoor plans for residents and tourists alike.

The National Centre of Meteorology is also predicting unstable weather, with partly cloudy skies and heavy rainfall expected on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. With three sources forecasting rain and a significant drop in temperatures, Dubai residents are advised to plan ahead. While some may embrace the cooler weather with layers, others may prefer indoor activities. Flexibility is key for anyone hoping to enjoy the weekend without weather disruptions.
