China’s low-altitude equipment industry has maintained steady expansion, with its output value posting an average annual growth rate of over 10 percent during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), according to official data released on Sunday.

China Central Television (CCTV) reported that the sector has seen significant increases in both product volume and variety.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology noted that the development and use of conventional general aviation equipment progressed smoothly, with more than 70 domestically produced models receiving airworthiness certification.

In addition, 18 categories of civil drones have been approved, while close to 30 ton-class drones and around 70 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft models are currently in development.

By December 30, 2025, a total of 1,081 companies had registered in the industry, with 3,623 product types filed and more than 5.29 million units registered.

Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), China aims to speed up technological innovation in the low-altitude equipment sector, reinforce safety systems, further improve industrial standards, and encourage innovative, locally adapted applications.
