The International Financial Centre of Oman (IFC Oman) has officially launched with a Royal Decree issued by Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
This is a big move towards ensuring that the Sultanate, as a global financial hub, is strengthened. The drive is based on the Oman strategic vision of diversification of its economy, investment attraction, and creation of financial services innovation.
The establishment of IFC Oman is a testimony to the Sultanate ensuring the establishment of a trusted ecosystem that suits the interests of investors and international financial institutions. With the Royal Decree No. (8/2026), IFC Oman will have complete administrative, financial, and legislative autonomy.
The center will introduce a regulatory, legal, and judicial system that will be founded on the English Common Law and aligned with the international standards that will make the center transparent and reliable to global investors.
The IFC Oman Board, which will manage the governance of IFC Oman, will be appointed by the Sultan with the mandate of overseeing the objectives of the Center.
The center will be managed by three separate bodies, which include the International Financial Centre of Oman Authority, the International Financial Centre of Oman Regulator, and the International Financial Centre of Oman Dispute Resolution Authority.
However, they will all operate independently, which will guarantee transparency and responsibility throughout operations. The Centre is headquartered in Madinat Al Irfan and could extend to other locations with time.
IFC Oman will seek to draw investments in the financial services and related industries through a package of incentives that include tax exemption of up to 50 years.
During the first stage, the center will consider completing legislative and regulatory frameworks, stakeholder engagement, companies, and legal professionals, as well as the formation of operational structures to start full operations within the same year.
The establishment of IFC Oman is an indication of continuing attempts to enhance financial stability and expand economic diversification. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik is determined to establish a favorable investment climate that will make the Sultanate one of the main, effective, and safe financial centers.
The IFC Oman will have a sophisticated financial services facility and will offer a clear investment environment to the investors and institutions. The center will be intended to be one of the strategic points of inflow of capital and will contribute to the overall goals of diversified growth and economic diplomacy to the benefit of Oman.
After major success in the financial sector, such as an increase in the credit rating of the Sultanate, the creation of the IFC Oman coincides with Oman Vision 2040. The center will add value to economic diversification, attracting investment as well as building partnerships globally.
The competitive advantages of IFC Oman include low cost, flexibility in the regulatory environment, great responsiveness, and dependable services that make it easy to access international markets.
In collaboration with strategic partners, Oman would like to develop IFC Oman into the top destination for financial services to attract international investors and strengthen the long-term economic vision of the Sultanate.
