Dubai Media Council introduced a new online media platform called Dubai+, which is intended to provide a broad spectrum of content to all members of the family. The platform indicates changing trends of digital consumption and the ongoing growth of the media and content ecosystem in Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, chaired the Council’s first meeting of 2026, which was hosted at Dubai Media.

The meeting discussed the strategy and plans of Dubai Media as a part of a larger vision to enhance the position of Dubai as the center of media in the world, the creative economy, and content production.

Some of the other plans discussed by the Council included building on local production capacities and encouraging cinema as a form of art and culture.

Director of Films and Production at the Dubai Media Council, Samr Al Marzooqi, presented plans to foster the film industry by providing programmes based on creative and economic development, offering products to cover a range of audiences, and fostering Emirati and international talents.

Dubai+ is a part of the overall strategy of Dubai Media to create a unified digital media platform, which will include a wide range of local, Arab, and international films and series, and promote the vision of Dubai to become a hub of creative content production and distribution.

Sheikh Ahmed noted the need to speed up the pace of growing the media industry in Dubai, including a special emphasis on talent investment, empowerment of the younger generation, integration of technologies and AI, and drawing specialized investment.

Sheikh Ahmed said, “We believe media is a strategic force that shapes awareness, supports development, and builds trust. Our approach is rooted in driving innovation, advancing skills and capabilities, and strengthening partnerships that turn ideas into real impact.”

He stated, “The launch of Dubai+, combined with the rapid development of our media ecosystem, and sustained support for film and creative industries, is set to further strengthen Dubai’s position at the forefront of global digital media and the creative economy.”

Al Marri added, “Mona Al Marri highlighted the Council’s focus on translating strategy into measurable outcomes through clear governance frameworks, performance indicators, and regulatory enhancements. “In the next phase, we will closely monitor and evaluate the progress of strategic initiatives to ensure swift implementation and measurable positive outcomes across the sector.”

Nehal Badri remarked that the Council is still working to enhance the media ecosystem of Dubai through involving the private sector, speeding up the content production process, and developing sophisticated storytelling tools.

She reported that continuous efforts to increase operational performance, innovation, and audience reach, alongside sustained investment in talent development, future-ready skills, and advanced production technologies, are needed to back long-term sector expansion.
