The government of the Republic of Korea has allocated 65 billion won (US$45 million) this year to support research and development (R&D) initiatives by medium-sized enterprises, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in manufacturing, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources announced Monday.
This year’s budget represents a 20 percent increase from the 54.8 billion won earmarked for similar programs last year, the ministry said.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the ministry will prioritize R&D projects that drive AI transformation in the manufacturing sector, a central policy goal aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Korean companies in the AI era.
