The death toll from heavy rains in Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais has risen to 46, the state fire department reported on Wednesday.
Floods and landslides have displaced approximately 3,600 people in the cities of Juiz de Fora and Ubá, which are about 110 kilometres apart, while 21 individuals remain missing, the fire department added.
The federal government of Brazil has accelerated relief and humanitarian assistance to the affected region, deploying health agents and national defense personnel, according to an official statement.
