More than 200 people were killed on Tuesday following a mine collapse in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The DRC Ministry of Mines stated that the incident occurred at the Rubaya mining sites—known for their coltan resources—in North Kivu Province after exceptionally heavy rainfall.
Local media reports suggest that the death toll could rise above 400, not including those who are still missing.
