Shares of U.S. space and satellite companies surged on Wednesday after reports that Elon Musk’s SpaceX could soon file for an initial public offering, potentially marking one of the largest listings in market history related to the upcoming SpaceX IPO.
Rocket makers Firefly Aerospace and Rocket Lab Holdings rose more than 10%, while other space-focused firms, including Intuitive Machines, Planet Labs, Sidus Space, and AST SpaceMobile, also posted sharp gains, reflecting investor enthusiasm around a potential SpaceX IPO listing.
According to reports, SpaceX could file for its IPO within days and may be valued at around $1.75 trillion, a level that would place it among the most valuable companies globally. The offering could raise more than $75 billion, making it the largest stock market debut on record, contributing to the buzz surrounding the SpaceX IPO.
The prospect of a SpaceX listing has fuelled optimism across the broader space industry, with investors betting that increased visibility and capital inflows could lift valuations across the sector.
Founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, SpaceX has grown into a dominant player in the aerospace industry, securing major government contracts and expanding its commercial launch capabilities. The company also operates Starlink, a global satellite internet network that has become a key revenue driver.
Musk’s broader business ecosystem, including artificial intelligence venture xAI and social media platform X, has further strengthened investor interest in SpaceX as a gateway to multiple high-growth sectors.
The potential IPO could also reshape global wealth rankings. Musk, already the world’s richest individual, could become the first trillionaire if the listing proceeds at the expected valuation.
The rally in space stocks underscores how closely the sector is tied to developments at SpaceX, widely seen as the benchmark for innovation and scale in the private aerospace industry.
While the company has not confirmed the IPO plans, market participants are closely watching for any formal filing, which could set the stage for a landmark moment in global capital markets.
