As part of the United Arab Emirates’ ongoing efforts to reinforce its position as a proactive global leader in nature conservation and biodiversity protection, and to advance its national and international environmental agenda, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has appointed Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak as Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Nature.
This appointment is set to strengthen the UAE’s influence as a strategic actor in global nature conservation and biodiversity protection, ensuring alignment between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ policies and those of national stakeholders, while integrating environmental objectives into the country’s broader strategic priorities.
The role will also support the formulation of a unified and effective national agenda for nature, contributing to the UAE’s vision for sustainable development and reinforcing the nation’s proactive engagement in environmental stewardship. It highlights the urgency of collective global action to address accelerating environmental challenges.
Razan Al Mubarak’s appointment underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to nature conservation and biodiversity protection, while advancing diplomacy in this critical field at both regional and international levels.
The selection reflects Razan Al Mubarak’s distinguished leadership on the global stage, particularly her role as High-Level Champion for COP28 at Expo City Dubai in 2023, as well as her extensive international contributions to advancing nature conservation.
