Actors Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s film Abir Gulaal sparked quite a buzz, just to settle down quiet. However, now, after months of speculation, the romantic starrer is slated to hit overseas screens on August 29. As per an Indian report, Abir Gulaal will hit theatres in over 75 countries.
A source close to PTI shared that the film will release worldwide except in India. Fans across the UK, UAE, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand can watch the movie.
Helmed by Aarti S Bagdi, Abir Gulaal was ready for a release in India on May 9 but found itself at the centre of controversy post the April 22 attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
Several trade organizations, including All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), reiterated their call for a ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry. The release of the film, which would have marked Fawad Khan’s comeback to Indian cinema, was cancelled. Following this, the duo’s posts on social media also disappeared.
However, now, this news brings joy to many fans who were waiting to watch the film. While reactions have been mixed on social media, many have shared excitement for Abir Gulaal on X. The movie is produced by Indian Stories and A Richer Lens Entertainment; producers include Vivek Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy.
