The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of Abu Dhabi has declared on Monday the extension of its autonomous services of Robotaxi into other parts of the Emirate, as a part of the larger plan to reinforce its smart mobility network and further promote transport sustainability goals.

It was announced on the grounds of the seventh Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX), both dedicated to autonomous and intelligent transport technologies.

Since its introduction in 2021, the Robotaxi service has been available in major destinations such as Yas, Al Saadiyat, Al Reem, Al Maryah Islands, and Zayed International Airport.

With the expansion, ITC stated that high activity and high-density regions like Khalifa City, Masdar City, and Rabdan will now have services. New routes will also connect Abu Dhabi Corniche and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, giving residents and visitors more access to autonomous mobility options.

WeRide and Uber are the commercial operators of the service in collaboration with local operator Tawasul Transport, with approved permits.

ITC stated that the autonomous fleet will be increased to satisfy increasing demand, as the number of trips grew by 150 percent in 2025, and vehicles have a 99.9 percent safety rate.

Through the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and development partners, ITC has been upgrading monitoring and control systems, advancing next-generation connectivity, and strengthening the operational safety of autonomous vehicles.

ITC said in a statement, “The expansion reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to investing in smart and autonomous mobility and supports the development of a sustainable, efficient transport system.”

The move is in line with the Abu Dhabi vision of smart and autonomous mobility that is supposed to make the network efficient, reduce carbon emissions, and improve quality of life in the Emirate, and place it at the forefront of innovation and cutting-edge transport technologies.
