The Organising Committee of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has announced a AED 3 million prize pool for its 17th edition, set to run from 12 to 22 November 2025 at Mubadala Arena.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the championship is expected to welcome more than 10,000 athletes from across the globe, reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s position as the world capital of jiu-jitsu.

First launched in 2009 with just 500 athletes from 50 countries, the event has grown into the largest jiu-jitsu competition globally. Last year’s edition drew over 8,000 competitors, and this year promises to break records with expanded categories and participation.

The 11-day schedule opens with amateur bouts on 12 November, followed by kids’ categories from 13 to 15 November, Para-Jiu-Jitsu on 13 November, youth competitions on 16 and 17 November, Masters on 18 and 19 November, and professional matches closing the championship from 20 to 22 November.

H.E. Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Chairman of the Organising Committee, said the prize money reflects the organisers’ commitment to maintaining the event’s global stature while motivating athletes to deliver top-level performances. He added that preparations are underway to ensure an exceptional edition, supported by Abu Dhabi Police, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and the Ministry of Interior.

With intensive efforts focused on infrastructure, logistics, medical, and volunteer readiness, the organisers are preparing for what they describe as an unprecedented edition that will showcase Abu Dhabi’s ability to unite cultures through sport.
