Abu Dhabi Police have foiled a major drug smuggling attempt, seizing 377 kilograms of crystal meth and arresting three Asian nationals involved in the operation.
The bust, carried out in cooperation with the National Drug Control Service, uncovered the gang’s method of concealing narcotics inside sewing machine oil cans in an effort to evade detection.
Brigadier Taher Gharib Al Dhaheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the Criminal Security Sector, said the suspects used “an innovative but ultimately unsuccessful” technique, adding that the vigilance of officers ensured the gang’s plan was thwarted.
He noted the operation reflects the leadership’s ongoing support for anti-drug efforts, in line with the National Anti-Narcotics Authority’s strategy to safeguard the emirate’s security and community wellbeing.
Al Dhaheri also urged residents to reject false notions about drug use and to report suspicious activity through the “Aman” service hotline (8002626).
