The Correctional and Rehabilitation Policies Committee at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has approved a suite of technology projects powered by artificial intelligence, including smart security systems for managing Rehabilitation Centres, behavioural detection and rapid response systems, and the Inmate Requests Management System (RMS) linked to the courts.
This initiative is part of ADJD’s digital transformation and process automation efforts, aimed at enhancing safety and service delivery within correctional and rehabilitation facilities.
Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, ADJD Undersecretary, stated that these advanced projects directly implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of ADJD.
These directives focus on continuous innovation within the judicial and correctional systems to achieve government agenda goals, building a safe and sustainable society through judicial efficiency and high-quality services, while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s competitive position.
He added that the new systems aim to enhance monitoring capabilities, improve emergency response, and provide inmates with easier access to their legal rights via a platform directly linked to the judicial system.
During its meeting to review development projects for 2026, the Committee also discussed a comprehensive project to improve pretrial detention facilities in line with the highest international standards, including infrastructure and service upgrades.
As part of initiatives to bolster rehabilitation programmes, the committee also reviewed specialised workshop projects in manufacturing and agriculture designed to equip inmates with professional and technical skills to support their reintegration into the labour market after completing their sentences.
