Algeria booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 after edging Burkina Faso 1–0 at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, in the second round of Group Five matches.
The victory lifted Algeria to six points at the top of the group, while Burkina Faso stayed in second place on three points.
Elsewhere in the same group, Sudan earned their first win with a 1–0 triumph over Equatorial Guinea at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, moving to three points and leaving Equatorial Guinea still scoreless.
In Group Six, Mozambique claimed a 3–2 win over Gabon in the second round, taking their points tally to three and keeping Gabon without any points.
