In a major move set to reshape the landscape of luxury travel in the Indian Ocean, Agon Capital, the dynamic investment firm known for redefining lifestyle experiences across the region, has announced its most ambitious project yet — the Villivaru Island Resort in the Maldives.

Developed in partnership with Janah International Holding (JIH) under a newly formed joint venture, Villivaru Holdings, this stunning new private island retreat promises to deliver a new standard of design-led barefoot luxury. Located just 30 minutes by speedboat from Malé’s Velana International Airport, Villivaru Island Resort is set within the pristine North Malé Atoll, surrounded by white-sand beaches and vibrant coral reefs.

The resort will feature an intimate collection of 61 villas and 11 private island estates, masterfully blending bold architecture with environmental sensitivity. Each accommodation — from spectacular overwater villas to secluded beachfront retreats and a Four-Bedroom Owner’s Residence — has been meticulously designed to deliver privacy, elegance, and immersive natural beauty. The 11 branded residences come complete with private arrival pavilions, sunset bars, and in-villa spas, offering guests an unparalleled sense of home-meets-hospitality.

Agon Capital CEO Ryan Hattigh described Villivaru as a defining milestone for the group: “Villivaru is more than a destination, it’s a legacy in the making. We are creating a living, breathing experience where architecture, nature, and service converge in perfect harmony. With this project, we aim to inspire and elevate global hospitality, not just build another resort.”

Known for standout UAE hospitality venues such as Gitano, BCH:CLB, and The Coterie, Agon Capital brings its signature approach — a fusion of service, design, and lifestyle innovation — to this global stage. The project also builds on strategic investments like Eden House, a hospitality-led residential concept developed in collaboration with H&H.

Villivaru Island Resort will also feature ten dining venues, including four signature restaurants and two collaborations with world-renowned culinary brands. Whether guests are dining under the stars at an open-fire grill or enjoying elevated Maldivian cuisine at a fine dining venue above the water, every meal promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Speaking on behalf of the joint venture, Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah, Chairman of JIH, said: “Villivaru Island Resort is more than a hospitality project, it’s a rare canvas for creating the Maldives’ next flagship experience. This partnership draws on global investment strength and generations of Maldivian know-how.”

Set to open in early 2027, Villivaru is poised to become one of the Maldives’ most iconic and sought-after destinations. As the country continues to attract international investment and embrace tourism innovation, Agon Capital’s entry into the Maldivian market marks a bold step forward for next-generation hospitality.
