According to the Southern Indian state, Google, a division of Alphabet Inc., plans to spend $10 billion and establish a huge data center and artificial intelligence hub in the southwestern Indian state, according to the state officials, which is the largest investment of Google in the South Asian country.

The state government’s statement indicated that Google will construct a 1-gigawatt data center campus in the port city of Visakhapatnam, which will integrate AI infrastructure, massive sources of energy, and an expanded fiber-optic network.

However, the formal agreement is anticipated to be signed on Tuesday. The drive is a part of an increase in competition among the large tech firms that have been incurring huge costs to develop new data center facilities to support the surging demand for AI services.

State IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, said, “In an era where data is the new oil, such initiatives will serve as a strategic advantage.”
