Electricity was cut to around 50,000 households and 2,000 businesses in southwestern Berlin after a fire broke out on a cable bridge, the network operator said.
Stromnetz Berlin reported that the blaze occurred on a cable bridge spanning the Teltow Canal, damaging several power cables linked to the nearby Lichterfelde power station. The fire has since been contained, and electricity is being restored in stages.
German police said on the social media platform X that they are investigating the incident as suspected arson.
