Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has granted a Dhs216 million contract to undertake a significant project to enhance the performance and dependability of the water transmission network in Dubai.
The contract involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) pipelines of different diameters, and other related works in the emirate in various locations.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated that the project will meet the commitment of the authority to become efficient in terms of operational work and to make the water infrastructure of Dubai more resilient as part of the long-term sustainability and development goals of the emirate.
The scope of work covers the installation of the main water transmission pipeline, 7.1km, testing and commissioning, and installation of 20 interconnections between the transmission and distribution networks.
Meanwhile, the upgrades are programmed to accelerate water flow and pressure in various regions of Dubai, enhance system preparedness, and sustain the growth in demand.
The project is planned to be finalized within 24 months and assist in the adequate water supply to meet the current and future demand, as well as the growth of Dubai’s infrastructure and multi-sector development agenda.
