AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea, as part of their strategic rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 25-year-old has inked a five-year contract and will join the squad immediately before their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Djordje Petrovic Bournemouth transfer marks the club’s latest acquisition as they continue strengthening under the President of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto.

“I’m really happy to be here. I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level,” said Petrovic. “With these facilities and the team’s ambitions, I believe we can achieve great things.”

Impressive Season In France

Petrovic, who made 23 Premier League appearances with Chelsea, spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he delivered standout performances. His contributions helped the club secure a seventh-place finish and a spot in the UEFA Conference League.

He was named Strasbourg’s Player of the Season and earned a nomination for Ligue 1’s Goalkeeper of the Season, underlining his growing stature in European football.

Strategic Goalkeeping Investment

Tiago Pinto praised the signing, calling it a “vital addition” in a position central to the club’s plans.

“The opportunity to sign a player of Djordje’s calibre was one we had to take. He brings impressive qualities and experience despite his young age,” Pinto told afcb.co.uk.

Bournemouth has been actively reshaping its squad. Petrovic’s arrival follows the signings of Adrian Truffert from Rennes and Junior Kroupi, who spent the latter half of last season at FC Lorient.

Part Of A Larger Vision

The Djordje Petrovic Bournemouth transfer reflects the Premier League side’s broader ambition to challenge for European spots and strengthen their presence both domestically and in continental competitions.

The club is expected to make further moves in the summer window as it prepares for a competitive season ahead.
