Dubai has secured the eighth spot globally and ranked first in the Middle East in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI), released by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation. This marks the second consecutive year Dubai has achieved this distinction, underscoring its role as a global leader in innovation, economic dynamism, and connectivity.
Dubai remains the only city in the Middle East to feature in the top 10, cementing its position as a premier global hub for business, talent, and investment.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, credited this achievement to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
“Dubai continues to redefine what is possible, combining innovation, sustainability, and a focus on nurturing talent,” said Sheikh Hamdan. “The city has created one of the world’s best environments for businesses to thrive, creative ideas to take shape, and individuals to realize their aspirations while enjoying an exceptional quality of life. This achievement reflects not only visionary leadership but also the collective contributions of countless individuals who share a commitment to excellence.”
Key Drivers of Success
Dubai’s world-class infrastructure and forward-looking policies have played a pivotal role in its rise. Its progressive legislative framework fosters innovation and adapts seamlessly to global trends, while strong public-private sector partnerships create a vibrant ecosystem for collaboration and growth.
“Dubai’s high ranking on global indices shows that we are not just keeping pace with the world, we are setting new benchmarks for excellence,” Sheikh Hamdan added.
Commitment to Sustainable Growth
Reaffirming Dubai’s commitment to sustainable growth, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the city’s dedication to maintaining its status as a global leader. “By embracing strategic innovation and maintaining a strong commitment to excellence, we are creating new opportunities across industries,” he said.
As one of the fastest-growing cities in the index, Dubai continues to improve its quality of life and foster economic opportunities, attracting leading minds, businesses, and investors worldwide.
About the Global Power City Index
The GPCI evaluates cities based on their “magnetism,” defined as their ability to attract people, capital, and enterprises globally. The ranking considers six dimensions: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. Dubai’s strong performance across these metrics highlights its resilience, connectivity, and vision for the future.
