Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta has announced 14 new investment and commercial opportunities at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, aims to empower Emirati citizens by creating new job prospects, supporting entrepreneurship, and driving sustainable economic and social development in the picturesque Hatta region.

In a significant move to boost local enterprise, all retail spaces will be allocated free of charge for one year to Emiratis residing in Hatta. This measure is designed to give small businesses and productive families the platform to expand, tapping into Hatta’s growing appeal as a cultural and eco-tourism hub.

The initiative aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Hatta Development Master Plan, and national agendas such as Dubai Social Agenda 33 and Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seek to strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the world’s top three cities for tourism while promoting inclusive economic growth.

Spanning a total area of 750 square metres, the new commercial spaces include:

  • 4 restaurants (serving Emirati, Arabic, Western, and traditional cuisines)
  • 4 retail stores (local cafes, souvenir shops, and gift outlets)
  • 6 food and beverage kiosks

According to Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, this marks the first time investment opportunities have been introduced in the Hatta Dam area. “The initiative strengthens the local economy, empowers Emirati entrepreneurs, and creates a supportive environment for new projects, opening the door for a new generation of business owners,” he said.

The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls have become a signature tourist attraction within the Hatta Dam area. The site features cascading waters from the Hatta Hydroelectric Plant flowing over the world’s largest marble mosaic mural, depicting the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The mural spans 2,199 sqm and is composed of more than 1.2 million natural marble pieces.

Dubai Municipality has invited Emiratis residing in Hatta to apply for the new opportunities via www.dm.gov.ae/business. Applications will be assessed based on transparent eligibility criteria set by the evaluation committee.

The project is expected to enhance Hatta’s standing as a sustainable tourism destination while simultaneously fostering local culture, economic self-sufficiency, and community growth.
