Dubai Police have impounded a supercar after it was seen emitting flames from its exhaust due to illegal modifications, following the circulation of a video on social media. Traffic patrol teams tracked the footage, identified the vehicle, and apprehended the driver, who was also found to be speeding and causing excessive noise on public roads.
Authorities confirmed that the car was seized, and a release fine of up to Dh10,000 was imposed. Officials stressed that public roads are not a place for dangerous stunts or showboating, adding that the driver’s actions posed a risk and disturbance to other road users. Legal action was taken in line with UAE traffic laws.
While some high-performance vehicles can naturally produce brief exhaust flames, a phenomenon known as afterfire, police clarified that deliberately modifying vehicles to create flames or loud pops is illegal in the UAE. Such alterations often involve manipulating fuel or ignition systems, and drivers found using them face strict penalties.
