Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled plans to construct a new two-lane bridge in Nad Al Sheba, stretching approximately 700 metres, that will serve residential communities in the area and offer a direct link for traffic arriving from Dubai–Al Ain Road in the direction of Al Ain.

This one will be designed to accommodate up to 2,600 vehicles per hour, and the bridge is expected to improve the traffic flow, bringing the traffic down by 83%, cutting the travel time from six minutes to just one. Construction for the same is slated to begin in the final quarter of 2025, with completion targeted by the end of 2026.

RTA confirmed that the bridge project is a key element in its long-term strategy to promote safer, more efficient mobility solutions. This includes launching sustainable, forward-thinking road and traffic projects that are tailored to meet the needs of both residents and visitors, ultimately enhancing quality of life.

“The project enables smooth and efficient traffic flow for an area home to around 30,000 residents, while also easing congestion at entry and exit points throughout Nad Al Sheba area. Construction of the new bridge is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. The project reflects RTA’s strong commitment to infrastructure development and to enhancing the efficiency of Dubai’s road network. It addresses the emirate’s rapid population growth and urban expansion, particularly in residential areas, while upholding the highest standards of traffic safety and seamless mobility,” RTA shared in a statement on X.

In addition, RTA completed traffic enhancements near several schools, including Repton School and Al Khaleej International School, which together serve around 10,000 students. These upgrades included the addition of parking and designated pick-up and drop-off areas, improving traffic flow and road safety during peak hours.

Further improvements include the conversion of the Latifa bint Hamdan Street–Nad Al Sheba Street intersection into a roundabout, reducing delay times by 50% and easing congestion. New entry and exit points were also added from Meydan Street to the residential zone, cutting travel time by 60% and enhancing connectivity for residents and visitors alike.
