Duqm Economic Zone Investments Soar RO6.3 Billion, Up 5.3% In Mid-2024

According to Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, CEO of Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), investments in the special economic zone reached RO6.3 billion (US$16.4 billion) in mid-2024, which is an increase of 5.3 percent over the same period the previous year.

Eventually, an increase of 71.8 percent over the same period last year, which was RO3.68 billion at the end of 2022.

He declared the figures at the opening on Monday of the second Duqm Economic Forum 2025.

The two-day event, organized by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) under the theme Leading Change, attracted over 400 participants and 54 speakers from Oman and abroad.

Minister of Finance of Oman, H.E. Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, who has inaugurated this forum by stating that it is an effort of Oman to enhance faster sustainable development and attract massive investments in Duqm.

He also reported that SEZAD emphasizes areas where the company has competitive advantages, such as green hydrogen, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and tourism.
