Egypt will supply natural gas and petroleum products to Syria under two memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries’ petroleum ministries, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Monday.
One of the agreements focuses on providing natural gas to Syria to support electricity production, using Egypt’s existing facilities, including floating regasification units and gas transmission systems.
The second memorandum relates to meeting Syria’s needs for petroleum products. Talks also explored possible collaboration on restoring Syria’s gas and oil infrastructure, with Egypt offering its technical expertise.
According to the ministry, the agreements align with Egypt’s broader strategy to reinforce its position as a regional energy hub. They follow recent deals with Lebanon and Cyprus aimed at boosting gas exports and strengthening regional energy integration.
