Elon Musk has changed his X display name, this time to “Kekius Maximus,” sending ripples through the cryptocurrency market. The move caused a dramatic surge in the value of the meme coin bearing the same name, which, according to Binance, saw a 119% increase.

Musk accompanied the name change with a new profile image depicting himself in armor, captioned “Emperor Kekius Maximus.” This is not the first time he has adopted this moniker, having used it previously in December, when he paired it with a “Pepe the Frog” meme.

What Elon Musk’s new profile name, Kekius Maximus means?

The name “Kekius Maximus” is a curious blend of internet slang and historical allusion. “Kek” is widely understood as an online equivalent of “LOL” (laugh out loud), and has also been linked to the ancient Egyptian deity of darkness, often depicted as frog-headed. “Maximus” evokes the Roman gladiator hero, Maximus Decimus Meridius, from the eponymous film.

The “Kekius Maximus” cryptocurrency, operating on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains, has seen significant volatility tied directly to Musk’s social media activity. A previous name change in December saw the coin skyrocket by nearly 500%, only to plummet when Musk reverted to his original profile. This recent surge, as reported by CoinMarketCap, of 145% reinforces Musk’s considerable influence on the cryptocurrency market.

The precise connection between Musk’s name change and the cryptocurrency remains unclear. While some speculate it’s a deliberate attempt to manipulate the market or simply a playful act, others believe it’s a way for Musk to maintain attention and generate online buzz. As with many of Musk’s social media antics, the latest name change has left many speculating and searching for deeper meaning.
