Etihad Airways has expanded its U.S. network with the inaugural flight to Atlanta, connecting the cultural and commercial hub of the U.S. Southeast directly with Abu Dhabi and its broader global network. The first flight from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) touched down at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on July 2, 2025.
Atlanta marks the fifth U.S. gateway in Etihad’s network, joining existing routes to New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Boston. The launch of this new service underscores Etihad’s ongoing expansion strategy in North America. Initial services will operate four times weekly, increasing to daily from November 1, 2025, due to strong demand.
Passengers flying from Abu Dhabi to the U.S. benefit from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility at Zayed International Airport. As the only such facility in the Middle East, it allows travelers to clear U.S. immigration and customs before departure, enabling them to arrive in the United States as domestic travelers and significantly reducing processing time upon arrival.
The newly launched route aims to meet the growing demand for travel between the UAE and the U.S., catering to a diverse range of travelers, including business professionals, tourists, and individuals visiting friends and family.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, stated, “Atlanta is a dynamic city with deep cultural, economic, and aviation significance. This new service enhances access to the southeastern United States while offering seamless connections across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.” He added, “With U.S. Preclearance at Zayed International Airport, guests can enjoy the convenience of arriving in Atlanta as domestic travellers. We’re delighted to bring our award-winning experience to guests travelling to and from Atlanta.”
The new service is operated using Etihad’s next-generation Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, known for its fuel efficiency and enhanced passenger comfort.
