Etihad Airways has achieved its strongest-ever first-quarter results in both profitability and guest satisfaction, continuing its upward trajectory with improvements across revenue, operations, and fleet development.

The Abu Dhabi-based airline reported a profit after tax of Dh685 million ($187 million) for Q1 2025, reflecting a 30% rise compared to the same period last year. This growth was attributed to strong passenger demand and improved operational efficiency. Total revenue increased by 15% year-on-year, supported by gains in both passenger and cargo segments.

Passenger numbers rose to 5 million in the first quarter, a 16% increase from Q1 2024. Over the past year, Etihad transported nearly 20 million guests, positioning it as the fastest-growing airline in the region.

Customer satisfaction saw a 20% improvement compared to the same quarter in 2024. Enhancements were made across key customer service areas, including check-in, boarding, onboard service, food and beverage, Wi-Fi, and digital platforms. The quarter also marked the introduction of refreshed lounge and inflight menus, along with service upgrades.

Etihad’s fleet expansion continued, with an additional Airbus A380 rejoining service, equipped with The Residence and First Apartments. In April, the airline took delivery of a new A350-1000, with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner scheduled to follow. Both aircraft are equipped with ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi and modern entertainment systems.

The airline also strengthened its premium offerings. First Class was expanded to new routes, and preparations began for new inflight and ground services to launch from August. Etihad became the first regional airline to feature First Class on a single-aisle aircraft with the debut of its new A321LR cabin, which includes private First suites and lie-flat Business Class seats. The broader First Class experience will also include concierge service, chauffeur transfers, dedicated check-in, meet-and-assist support, and baggage-free travel options in Abu Dhabi.

“We are proud to deliver a record-breaking quarter – both in profitability and in guest satisfaction,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. “Achieving our highest-ever Q1 profit of US$187 million and our best-ever customer satisfaction scores reflects the strength of our business and the dedication of our people.

“We’re executing a clear strategy: grow sustainably, operate efficiently, and never lose focus on delivering remarkable experiences to our guests. From continued refinements to our onboard offering to improved airport services and the debut of our A321LR with a market-leading narrowbody product, we’re raising the bar in every part of the journey.

“Our network continues to expand with 16 new routes announced for 2025 and additional aircraft joining our fleet. As we grow, we remain disciplined and focused on quality, efficiency, and creating value for our customers and stakeholders.”

Passenger revenue reached $1.5 billion, up 16% year-on-year, driven by higher capacity, network growth, and increased flight frequencies.
