Four people, including two children, were killed after a train collided with a school minibus in Belgium on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The accident took place in the town of Buggenhout in northern Belgium.
Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevot confirmed the incident in a post on X.
“A tragic collision between a train and a school bus took place in Buggenhout this morning. Four people have been killed, including two children,” Prevot wrote.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the children who died were aged 15 and 12.
Police said seven children, along with a supervisor and the driver, were travelling in the minibus at the time of the collision.
Authorities said the other five children onboard were rushed to hospital in critical condition. However, officials later confirmed that all of them are now stable.
