The Fund reported that in another economic diversification initiative, Future Fund Oman, the national investment vehicle of the Gulf Sultanate, has arranged investments amounting to approximately $2.04 billion to stimulate the emergence of renewable energy and the clean technology sectors in the nation.
Among the major initiatives, there is a $1.6 billion solar-grade polysilicon manufacturing facility currently being designed by United Solar that is planned to be operational in 2026.
In a press statement, the fund stated that the project has supported over 1,000 jobs and has already created over $317 million in in-country value, and the Fund also noted that international development finance institutions have become interested in the project.
The other large investment is the six-gigawatt solar cell manufacturing facility at the SOHAR Port and Freezone of JA Solar.
The project of $442 million is nearing major construction milestones. The project is likely to provide over 500 people with jobs when it starts operating to provide Oman with an edge within regional clean energy supply chains.
Future Fund Oman had already endorsed 141 projects in 2025 alone, raising cumulative pledges to $1.2 billion. The fund has so far raised about $2.1 billion in private and foreign funds, with eight major projects that have been developed with the global investors, banks, funds, and family offices.
Since its launch, the fund has evaluated 828 proposals and has approved 141 projects totaling approximately 3.4 billion dollars in nine strategic national investments and 132 small and medium-sized and venture capital initiatives.
The fund has a dual mandate of investing in large-scale national projects and high-growth businesses with an expected return of 12 percent and a maximum investment of 40 percent in equity in a single investment.
