The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is amping up its efforts to attract more and more travellers from the Gulf region, showcasing its commitment at Arabian Travel Market 2025 (ATM), happening in Dubai’s WTC. With a strong delegation of over 30 travel industry representatives from Hong Kong, here’s what we know so far.
Visitor arrivals from the GCC to Hong Kong soared by 69% year-on-year in 2024, reflecting a growing appetite for the city’s unique offerings.
In response, HKTB is intensifying its outreach with targeted initiatives designed specifically for Middle Eastern travellers.
These include expanding destination visibility, strengthening partnerships with regional travel players, and developing bespoke tourism experiences, ranging from halal-certified services and family-friendly attractions to high-end shopping and wellness tailored to GCC tastes.

“Culturally Connected and Travel-Ready”
“Hong Kong offers a compelling blend of experiences that align with the tastes and travel preferences of GCC visitors and Muslim travellers,” said Mr. Dane Cheng, Executive Director of the HKTB.
“From cultural authenticity to premium hospitality and halal-friendly services, our destination is equipped to meet the expectations of today’s discerning Middle Eastern travellers,” he added.
Furthermore, Cheng said, “As air connectivity between Hong Kong and the GCC continues to expand alongside strengthened promotional efforts, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from the region to explore all that Hong Kong has to offer.”
Strategic Alliances with Regional Airlines
HKTB has also entered a strategic partnership with Wego, the Middle East’s leading travel platform, to enhance destination marketing and showcase Hong Kong’s vibrant culture, world-class attractions, and renewed status as a must-visit destination.
Additionally, improved air connectivity, including multiple daily flights from Dubai and Doha, and regular routes from Riyadh, has made access to Hong Kong easier than ever. This bolsters not only leisure travel but also strengthens business and MICE tourism, with Hong Kong continuing to serve as a global hub for commerce and large-scale events.
The HKTB also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with musafir.com, targeting travellers from Qatar. More so, another one with Almosafer, focusing on attracting Saudi travellers.
Long-Term Growth
Through culturally attuned tourism offerings, strategic partnerships, and a clear focus on personalised experiences, the HKTB is positioning Hong Kong as a premium, accessible, and welcoming destination for GCC travellers. With the foundation laid for sustainable growth, Hong Kong is poised to attract even more visitors from the Gulf in the years to come.
