Mleiha National Park is set to host one of the most spectacular celestial events of the year with the Geminids Meteor Shower Experience taking place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Mleiha Panoramic Lounge, a private viewing area within the desert.
With minimal moonlight forecast, the skies above Mleiha—known for its extremely low light pollution and clear, unobstructed horizons—are expected to offer perfect viewing conditions, with up to 100 meteors per hour at the peak. A range of advanced, computerised high-resolution telescopes will allow guests to observe celestial objects with exceptional sharpness and detail.
“The Geminids are a skywatcher’s dream, offering high meteor rates and bright, slow-moving trails. This year’s low moonlight makes the event especially remarkable,” said Omar Al Ali, Manager of Mleiha & Strategic Projects. “Our desert location is uniquely accessible yet incredibly serene and dark. Visitors can trace constellations, meteor streaks, and even the Milky Way with the naked eye. With expert guidance and high-resolution computerized telescopes, every guest can enjoy the thrill of celestial exploration.”
Designed as a peaceful, immersive evening under the stars, the guided programme runs from 6 pm to 1 am for standard ticket holders. An overnight option extends the experience until dawn, as the meteor shower continues until roughly an hour before sunrise. Overnight guests will end their experience with a complimentary breakfast on Sunday, December 14.
Guests can expect a curated schedule that blends guided exploration with open viewing time. After arriving at 6 pm, visitors begin the evening with Saturn observation between 6:15 and 7 pm. From 7 to 8 pm, an in-depth Geminids presentation sets the context for the night. Jupiter becomes visible between 9 and 9:30 pm, after which spectators shift their focus to watching meteors from 9:30 pm onward.
The guided portion of the event concludes at 1 am, although overnight guests may continue observing throughout the night.
Beyond the Geminids event, Mleiha offers regular stargazing nights and special sessions scheduled around eclipses, other meteor showers, and planetary alignments. To extend the experience to communities across the region, the Mobile Stargazing programme brings telescopes, expert guides, and educational activities to off-site locations for private groups, schools, and partners.
