Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. has been ranked the world’s No.1 company in the personal products sector on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices 2025, marking the first time the Indian FMCG firm has secured the top position on the global sustainability benchmark.

The ranking is based on S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, where the company scored 89 out of 100 in its category, placing it among the highest-performing firms globally on environmental, social, and governance parameters.

The Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices evaluate companies across a wide range of criteria, including climate action, emissions reduction, supply chain practices, water management, and labour standards, making them among the most closely tracked global benchmarks for corporate sustainability performance.

“Being ranked #1 globally on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices is a defining milestone,” said Sudhir Sitapati, Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Consumer Products, adding that sustainability remains central to the company’s business strategy.

The recognition also marks a decade of the company’s participation in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment, reflecting a long-term focus on transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in ESG practices.

Industry observers say the ranking highlights a broader shift within the FMCG sector, where sustainability metrics are increasingly influencing corporate positioning and investor perception.

For Godrej Consumer Products, the milestone reinforces its positioning as a leading player in emerging markets, as companies face growing scrutiny over environmental impact and responsible sourcing.

The development underscores the rising importance of ESG benchmarks in shaping global corporate rankings, particularly as investors and regulators place greater emphasis on sustainability-linked performance.
