Google has announced it will roll out more Gemini AI features to its Chrome browser, reinforcing its push to place next-generation technology at the centre of the user experience.

Among the new Gemini-powered tools are the image generation feature Nano Banana, the “Personal Intelligence” function, and “Auto Browse” — an agentic AI capability that allows users to instruct the browser to complete tasks across the web using a single prompt. Google is also unveiling a refreshed Chrome interface that adds a right-side panel, keeping the Gemini chatbot accessible while users browse.

According to Parisa Tabriz, Vice President of Chrome, early testers have already used these tools for a wide range of activities, including booking appointments, completing online forms, gathering tax documents, requesting service quotes, checking bill payments, submitting expense reports, managing subscriptions, and speeding up driving licence renewals — saving significant time in the process.

The updates further highlight Google’s effort to make Chrome a more personalised experience. Earlier this month, the company introduced the “Personal Intelligence” feature within the Gemini app, which links data from services such as Gmail and Google Photos to deliver tailored responses through the chatbot.

These enhancements also reflect Google’s broader ambition to realise DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis’s vision of a “universal assistant” — an AI helper capable of planning and taking action on a user’s behalf across devices.
