Google unveiled its highly anticipated Pixel 10 series at the Made by Google 2025 event, but the launch drew just as much attention for its light-hearted digs at rival Apple.
The event, hosted by television personality Jimmy Fallon, combined product announcements with humor, setting a casual tone unusual for major tech unveilings. Fallon joked after Apple’s name came up during a segment on accessories: “You said the A-word. Can we talk about Apple?”
Google’s Adrienne Lofton, Senior Vice President of Devices, leaned into the banter, noting that Pixel devices support Apple’s MagSafe accessories. “We can say anyone’s name we want,” she quipped, highlighting Google’s willingness to directly reference its competitor — a rare move in big tech presentations.
Lofton also addressed the long-running “green vs. blue bubble” debate between Android and iPhone messaging. With Rich Communication Services (RCS) now widely adopted, she called the rivalry “silly and tired,” adding: “At Google, we’re done with that conversation.”
Alongside the playful jabs, Google introduced new features powered by artificial intelligence, including PixelSnap, which makes switching devices easier, and enhancements to messaging and photo tools.
Industry analysts noted that while the humor caught headlines, the launch underscored Google’s broader strategy: combining AI-driven innovation with a more confident, consumer-friendly presentation style — one that doesn’t shy away from acknowledging Apple’s influence.
