In a major breakthrough, Hamas has agreed to an Egyptian-Qatari proposal aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip, according to informed sources cited by Al Qahera News.

The plan, mediated by Egypt and Qatar with support from the United States, outlines a 60-day cessation of military operations. As part of the arrangement, Israeli forces would redeploy to allow the entry of humanitarian aid. The deal also includes the release of several Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 10 Israeli hostages and 18 bodies.

From the first day of the truce, discussions are expected to begin on mechanisms to achieve a permanent ceasefire, Egypt’s Middle East News Agency reported.

The development coincides with high-level talks in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

A statement from the Egyptian Presidency said both leaders affirmed the importance of continued efforts, in coordination with the United States, to secure an immediate ceasefire and ensure the unobstructed delivery of aid to Gaza. They also rejected any attempt at the reoccupation of the Strip or the displacement of Palestinians, reiterating that the only viable path to lasting peace is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

President El-Sisi further stressed the urgency of beginning the reconstruction of Gaza once a ceasefire takes hold. He called for preparations to convene the Cairo International Reconstruction Conference in partnership with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.
