A private helicopter crashed Friday in a mountainous region of Arizona, killing all four people on board, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. near Telegraph Canyon, approximately 64 miles (103 kilometers) east of Phoenix, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on social platform X. Officials suggested the crash may have been caused when the helicopter struck a “recreational slackline” that stretched more than half a mile (over a kilometer) across the mountains.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

Flights over the area were temporarily restricted for safety, the sheriff’s office added.
