In the run-up to the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), scheduled for September 10–11 at Expo Centre Sharjah, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) has unveiled the first-ever “Global PR Challenge – Sharjah Edition.”
The initiative, launched under the forum’s theme “Communication for Quality of Life,” will bring together 20 local and international students, grouped into ten teams, to compete for the prestigious Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA). The winners will receive both a financial prize and the opportunity to bring their idea to life.
Organised in collaboration with the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS), the challenge will task participants with designing communication solutions inspired by the Your Sharjah campaign. The competition aims to nurture young talent, connect students with global experts, and position Sharjah as a regional hub for innovation in media and communication.
The three finalist teams will present their campaigns live during IGCF, with winners to be honoured at the SGCA ceremony on September 11.
Alongside the Global PR Challenge, IGCF’s pre-forum programme will also feature:
- AI Skills Challenge (with Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Science & Technology), engaging youth aged 10–16 in developing AI-driven solutions for food security, sustainability, and quality of life.
- University Challenge (with UAE University), where 12 teams will explore the role of food security in achieving community sustainability.
By combining competitions, mentorship, and live presentations, IGCF 2025 reaffirms its role as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and knowledge-sharing.
