India and China have agreed to resume direct flights for the first time since 2020, in a move expected to ease travel and strengthen economic ties between the two Asian giants.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the 24th round of talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi.
Direct passenger flights between the two countries were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and have not yet resumed, despite rising demand for travel and business connectivity.
Alongside the decision on flights, both sides also agreed to step up trade and investment flows, underlining a shared intent to restore momentum in bilateral economic engagement.
The development marks a significant step in normalising ties, with improved connectivity anticipated to benefit students, business travellers, and families across both nations.
