India’s women’s cricket team has kept its World Cup dream alive — and how! After a shaky start to their 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup campaign, the Women in Blue bounced back with a statement performance, sealing a place in the semi-finals with a 53-run victory (via DLS) over New Zealand at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

It was a batting masterclass from India, led by Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, who both rose to the occasion with sensational centuries. Mandhana smashed a commanding 109, while Rawal’s blistering 122 set the tone for India’s massive total of 340/3 in 49 overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues provided the perfect finishing touch, remaining unbeaten on a stylish 76 to push India’s momentum into the break.

New Zealand, however, struggled to keep pace in the chase. Brooke Halliday fought hard with a well-made 81, but the regular loss of wickets and rising scoreboard pressure led to their elimination from the tournament.

This crucial win secures India’s spot in the semi-finals, joining powerhouses Australia, England, and South Africa in the final four. With confidence restored and momentum firmly on their side, India’s ambition of lifting the coveted trophy remains very much within reach.

The stage is set — and the Women in Blue are ready to fight for glory.
