The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has temporarily suspended all civil flight operations at 32 airports located across northern and western parts of the country. The suspension is effective from May 9 to May 14, with flight operations scheduled to resume at 5:29 AM on May 15.
The suspension follows a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by AAI and other aviation bodies, citing “operational reasons” for the closures. However, officials have so far withheld further explanation. While no explicit link has been made to the current geopolitical developments, many of the airports affected are dual-use facilities situated near the India-Pakistan border—supporting both civilian and military aviation.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation is reportedly working in close coordination with national security agencies and may release additional updates as the security situation unfolds.
