Apple TV+ is adding star power to its original slate with Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller set to headline the upcoming limited series The Off Weeks. The eight-episode thriller drama will be directed by Michael Showalter, best known for The Dropout and The Idea of You, with Alissa Nutting (Made for Love) as showrunner.
Both Chastain, an Academy Award winner, and Stiller, an Emmy-winning actor and director, will also serve as executive producers. The series is the latest example of Apple’s strategy of pairing high-profile talent with prestige storytelling to compete in the crowded streaming market.
The Off Weeks centers on Gus Adler, a writing professor whose life begins to spiral after a divorce. While managing the challenges of shared custody during his “on weeks” with his children, Adler’s “off weeks” descend into turmoil when he becomes entangled with Stella West, a mysterious woman whose presence threatens to upend his life.
For Apple TV+, the project underscores its continued push into premium drama anchored by award-winning talent, following successes like The Morning Show and Severance. With Chastain’s dramatic range and Stiller’s versatility, industry analysts see the series as a potential flagship title in Apple’s upcoming lineup.
